NAMI Basics is a no-cost six-session course for parents and primary caregivers of children and adolescents who have shown symptoms of a mental health condition. Class will be held on a Thursday evening for six consecutive weeks.

This course is taught by trained parents/caregivers who have similar lived experiences with their own children, allowing families to connect, learn, and empower themselves to overcome new challenges.

Course Topics include

• The biology of mental illness
• The latest research, advances in treatment and an overview of treatment options
• The impact of a child’s mental illness on the rest of the family
• An overview of the systems of care for children and teens living with mental illness

Iowa CEU credits available for foster parents who complete ALL 6 classes.
